The tech in your house should just work.

I'm Chase — a software engineer in Austin. I fix Wi-Fi and smart homes, plan and install lighting, and build websites for people around Austin. Same person on the phone, on the ladder, and in the code.

  • Straight answers. You'll know what was wrong and why, in plain language.
  • No contracts. Hourly or flat-rate. Nothing recurring unless you want it.
  • You own everything. Your accounts, your hardware, your site.

Consulting & websites — anywhere

What I do

Five things, done properly. Most jobs start with a short call so neither of us wastes a trip — I'll tell you honestly if it's not something I should be doing.

01

Home IT support

Wi-Fi that reaches the back bedroom, and a network you don't have to think about.

  • Whole-home Wi-Fi and mesh, placed and tuned for your actual floorplan
  • Dead zones, dropouts, and "the internet is slow" diagnosed with real measurements
  • Printers, TVs, NAS, cloud backups, and password cleanup
  • Router and camera hardening so your house isn't exposed to the open internet

02

Home automation

One app, scenes that make sense, and nothing that needs babysitting every month.

  • Hue, HomeKit, Home Assistant, Alexa and Google — set up so they cooperate
  • Sensors, schedules, and scenes built around how you actually live in the house
  • Untangling a house with dozens of devices fighting over one network
  • Migrating off a hub or app that stopped being supported, without starting over
03

Lighting

Consulting, troubleshooting, and installation — from a plan on paper to switches on the wall.

  • Room-by-room layered plans: ambient, task, and accent, instead of one ceiling can
  • Fixture and bulb selection with color temperature that matches across the house
  • Flicker, buzz, and dimming problems solved — usually the dimmer, not the bulb
  • Smart switches, under-cabinet, landscape, and accent lighting installed
04

Websites

A fast, honest site you actually own — design and build, start to finish.

  • Sites for trades, small businesses, artists, and portfolios
  • Hand-built and quick to load — no bloated page builder, no monthly platform tax
  • Copy, structure, and photos worked out with you rather than guessed at
  • Domain, hosting, email, and analytics set up and handed over in your name

Tech consulting

Backend and AI engineering for small teams that need a senior pair of hands, briefly.

  • Backend systems: APIs, data models, integrations, and performance work
  • LLM features built to be maintained — retrieval, evals, and agent workflows
  • Architecture review and second opinions before you commit to a direction
  • Short engagements welcome — no six-month minimum, no retainer required

Step one

You tell me what's wrong

A short call or a text with photos. I'll say up front whether it's a one-hour fix or a real project — and whether it's something you should call an electrician for instead.

Step two

I come look, or we get on a call

In person for anything with wires or walls. Remote for websites and consulting. You get an estimate before work starts, not after.

Step three

It's fixed, and you know why

Passwords, diagrams, and account access handed over in writing. Nothing locked behind me.

Selected work

Software, audiovisual work, and jobs around people's houses. Different rooms, same way of working.

Cyber Chase — four elements set

A 20-minute immersive debut at a Dadageek exhibition, structured Earth → Water → Fire → Air. TouchDesigner, lasers, and projection driven by an audio-reactive feedback chain.

Knowledge-base maintenance agent

An agent that keeps an Obsidian vault tidy — linking, restructuring, and catching orphaned notes. A working study in retrieval and agent design, not a demo.

High-density smart home rebuild

A condo with dozens of connected devices tripping over each other: network rebuilt, traffic separated, automations reliable again.

Same habit, different rooms

I've spent my career as a software engineer — backend systems, and more recently AI and LLM work. Evenings and weekends I build audiovisual performance under the name Cyber Chase: TouchDesigner, lasers, projection, and a lot of patient debugging in the dark.

Those sound like two careers. What they share is a preference for understanding a system rather than guessing at it. That's what you're actually hiring when you call about a dimmer that buzzes or a Wi-Fi dead zone — someone who will find the cause instead of replacing parts until it stops.

I'm based in Austin and work across the metro in person. Consulting and websites I do from anywhere — I'm often in New York, San Francisco or Los Angeles.

Tell me what's going on.

Describe the problem in a sentence or two — photos of the panel, the router, or the fixture help. I answer every message, and I'll tell you if it isn't a job for me.
